As you have never invested in mutual funds you must know that they carry certain amount of risk depending upon the category of funds that you invest in. Since you have no idea about mutual funds and also that you do not have a KYC for mutual funds (it is mandatory to have a mutual fund KYC before you start), we suggest that you take help from a mutual fund advisor in your city. The advisor will help you fulfil these formalities and also in your investments. However, if you do not know any mutual fund advisor, you can write back to us and we will connect you to one around your locality in New Delhi.

As you are new and also that you are aged 60, you may invest in balanced funds. Balanced fund invest both in equities and debt and less riskier than pure equity mutual funds. With a 5 year investment horizon you can expect around 11-12% returns from balanced funds. You can check the details of top performing balanced funds from here https://www.advisorkhoj.com/mutual-funds...

We feel that for you the key to start investing in mutual funds is to find a good mutual fund advisor as you will need hand holding while you start investing in mutual funds.

Please let us know how else we can help you on this? Thanks for writing to Advisorkhoj.
